I’m asking our inaugural year-end question which is an important question for our readers — what topics or specific subjects would you like us to cover here in the coming year (2015)?

We try VERY hard to figure out what content is of most value to readers. That’s a key reason we routinely ask for contributors because I can’t do it alone.

I can’t guarantee we will hit every subject you propose, but I will read every comment and try our best. I remain committed to creating the best content in Alexandria, Virginia and making that content more accessible for readers.

Thank you for your patronage readers!

I would like to hear more about local laws changing or being revised in Alexandria. I really like Flashback Friday and posts about new businesses in the area. Great job, I love this blog!

I would like more news from the City of Alexandria (e.g., City Council, commissions, etc.). I’d also like neighborhood news. (News on Alexandria small businesses is good, too, like Yaira below notes.)

In DC there is a blog called short posts about long meetings (SALM), We don’t have quite so many meetings cause no ANC’s. but we still have quite a few, and the local papers do an abysmal job of covering them. While it may not be the most fun journalism to do, something like that could be very valuable,

Following the brutal murder of two NYPD police officers, Alexandria Mayor Bill Euille sent the following email to City Department Heads and employee group leaders: “The event this afternoon in Brooklyn in the ambush shooting of two officers sitting in their cruiser, a lone individual, who ultimately took his on life in a subway station, is in deed another tragedy and is another reason why as a society, we need to find ways to improve police and community relations. I am so pleased that incidents like this do not happen in our city, wether a police or a citizen. Nonetheless… Read more »

I very much enjoy the stories about businesses that are opening and closing in Alexandria. I think you do a much better job on reporting on these stories compared to our local professional news organizations. I’ve learned so much on these topics from your blog since I started reading it regularly.
