I went walking around Old Town this evening and saw some things you might want to know about. Stella’s Attic located at 1309 King Street has closed. What’s worse is that there are signs up for a case at a public hearing in front of the Board of Architectural Review tomorrow night. It appears from reading the documents that the current owner of the building wants to demolish it. The staff recommends approval of the project because it appears that the building is not 100 years old and therefore was erroneously labeled in the Old and Historic District.
Just down the street at 1680 King, there is a Dunkin Donuts being built out in the old Quiznos location between the Suntrust Bank and the Perfect Pita location. Look for a late spring/early summer opening.
Lastly, at this past month’s Traffic and Parking Board, the City’s Transportation and Environmental Services Department seeks the removal of all parking in front of the Joe Theismann’s Restaurant specifically around the crosswalk in the curvy area leading up to Reineker’s Lane. It has been determined by the city that this is very dangerous for pedestrians crossing the street.
