Debate Tonight – Democrats Running for City Council

Tonight, the Alexandria Democratic Committee is sponsoring a debate among its primary candidates for the May 4 City Council race at Francis C. Hammond Middle School. The event will be held from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. The school is located at 4646 Seminary Road in Alexandria.

This debate is an excellent chance for citizens of Carlyle and all of Alexandria to ask the candidates about their positions on issues of importance to our neighborhood and the City of Alexandria.

The Democratic primary candidates are former Mayor Kerry Donley, current Vice Mayor Del Pepper, incumbent Council members Rob Krupicka, Tim Lovain, Paul Smedberg, and Justin Wilson, and challenger Boyd Walker (who is the son of former Council member Lois Walker).

I am not sure if the Mayor is running yet or not. His website, does not come up. It may be that he is running unopposed again.

No similar event has been scheduled for the Republican side, although two candidates have announced they will run: Phil Cefaratti and Frank Fannon.

This is your chance to ask questions of the candidates about where the candidates see the City going in the future and ask them about issues that are of importance to you.

Hope to see you there!
