John Carlyle Square Park Now Open

by Lee Hernly, Editor

After weeks of haggling with the architect, the contractor, the Parks & Recreation staff, and Planning & Zoning staff, you are probably aware that John Carlyle Square Park is now fully open. In the beginning of September, the grassy area of the park was opened. The contractor has worked through the rest of the items on the list and the City has given the stage area its final blessing.

There will be a grand opening for the public on Thursday, October 15 from 11:30am to 1:00pm.

There will be a dedication by the Honorable Mayor, members of City Council, and distinguished guests.
There will be a special musical performance by The Larry Brown Trio. We are seeing if we can get the grand opening date moved as many people will be at work.

We are also working with the Transportation & Environmental Services staff on lengthening the current 8:00am to 5:00pm parking hours around the inside of the park. We are also working with Parks & Recreation on the drainage problem in the park.
