New Design & New Name

Happy 3rd day of Christmas!

For our longtime residents and readers of this site, we are in the process of some changes. We have slightly changed the design to a more feature driven format. To view items from the blog, simply click on the ‘Blog’ link at the top or bottom of the page. We have also updated the calendar and have assigned an individual to keep it updated with both Carlyle events as well as events from the Old Town community.

We have also slightly changed the name to ‘Carlyle Community Council’. This council is actually the group that will oversee things in Carlyle and be the point of contact between you and the City. In fact, council elections are taking place right now and the votes are being counted. We’ll let you know the results as soon as we have them.

This is an exciting time for this website as well as our community at large. I hope you continue to enjoy visiting this website and reading the blog. You can contact the council anytime by visiting this URL (be sure to bookmark it).

The council invites your comments anytime. Here’s to a great 2010!

Color me non-plussed. I don’t feel a blog about a community should be driven by elected officials who rely on good news for re-election.

Hi Sam,

Thanks for responding. The blog and the site will still be run by me BUT will be overseen by the new Board of Directors (a.k.a. Carlyle Community Council). SO, it will not be run by some ‘elected’ official.

In the next few weeks we’ll be merging the information from this site and this URL:

Hopefully, what you will get is a better design and better information that will continue to make our great community better. I hope you will continue reading.

No problem, I think the site is a fantastic idea and look forward to continue reading it. How is the “Carlyle Community Council” elected (for lack of a better term)?

There is a council/board of directors already. These folks worked for Norfolk Southern, the previous owners of the Carlyle area. The difference being now that John Carlyle Square Park and the Dog Park have been finished, is that control of the area will now be turned over to the residents and business owners. The ‘Council’ will oversee the area and be the first POC with the City. As for the ‘election,’ each business and condo association was asked to submit names for consideration as members of the board of directors/council. There were about a dozen names submitted to fill the… Read more »
