ESPN To Close D.C. ESPN Zone Restaurant

In case you go to downtown Washington D.C. with hopes of hanging out at the ESPN Zone, you may want to change your plans.

ABC7 News reports:

The ESPN Zone restaurant is closing five of its seven restaurants, including its D.C. location, next week.

A corporate spokesperson confirmed that the Baltimore, Chicago, New York, Las Vegas and Washington, D.C., locations will be shuttered after closing on June 15.

About 1000 employees will lose jobs nationwide, including 150 locally. The spokesperson said laid-off workers will be offered severance packages and career placement assistance.

Two Los Angeles-area ESPN Zones will remain open.

I have eaten there a few times and thought it was a pretty awesome place.
