BRABO, located at 1600 King Street near our neighborhood, is launching a new Friday happy hour called “Toast on the Terrace,” where guests pay $25 to enjoy unlimited sangria, charcuterie and cheese on the secluded rooftop adjacent to the Lorien Hotel & Spa’s Presidential Suite. If guests prefer to drink wine, the Butcher’s Block will sell bottles that can be enjoyed during the happy hour, and a full bar will also be available. ‘Toast on the Terrace’ begins on Friday August 20th (tonight!), and will run throughout the remaining summer months and into fall, weather permitting. Hope to see you on the terrace!
In other King Street news, work continues on the King Street Paving Project. Phase I consists of concrete work, which includes curb and gutter repairs and new ADA accessible ramps at crosswalks. This work takes place Monday – Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. until about mid-September. The Phase II milling and paving activities will start mid-September, taking place Sunday-Thursday, from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. for approximately two to three weeks, weather permitting.
Post Properties of Atlanta notified us recently that they’re preparing a $95 million phase two of their Carlyle Square in Alexandria. It’ll be 344 luxury units near the PTO at Holland Lane and Emerson Avenue (Block O). Look for delivery in second quarter of 2012. We’ll have more on this development soon as I gather more information.
Lastly, Artfully Gifts & Chocolate is moving to Carlyle! Artfully Gifts & Chocolate is a reincarnation of Artfully Paper, a stationery & gift store that opened in October 2007 in Del Ray, Alexandria. Artfully Gifts & Chocolate takes the best aspects of Artfully Paper and adds Kingsbury/ACKC chocolates. They will be moving to 520 John Carlyle Street in between the 7-Eleven and Jerry’s Subs & Pizza. Look for construction to begin sometime this fall. Michael Bergin over at GWSleptHere.com has a great write up on the stores from earlier this year if you are not familiar with these fine Del Ray establishments.
