The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, including the City of Alexandria, from 6 a.m. on Sunday to 6 a.m. on Monday. Accumulation of six to ten inches of snow is possible.
Light snow will begin early on Sunday morning, and become heavier from mid-morning to early evening, until it tapers off overnight into Monday. Windy conditions could also cause blowing snow, with wind gusts up to 35 miles per hour. City crews are currently pre-treating roads and will continue to respond appropriately to changing weather conditions.
Residents are advised to use caution when driving and be prepared for slippery, dangerous road conditions, expecially later on Sunday. The snow emergency hotline is available at 703.746.4488.
