Several Alexandria restaurant owners are expanding their businesses — and they’re not venturing very far to do it.

At least three Alexandria businesses have recently announced plans to open new locations or ventures in adjacent neighborhoods, hooked by the community atmosphere, proximity and loyal clientele. They include:

• La Bergerie, an Old Town French restaurant opening Del Ray Cafe, a more low-key, French-food-cum-farm-to-table concept, by the end of March in the Del Ray neighborhood;

• Grape & Bean, a wine bar, specialty coffee shop and wine store with a second location under construction in the Rosemont neighborhood; and
