The Mighty Ducks Movie Poster

Building upon their wildly successful ‘Movies on the Potomac’ from the last couple of years, the National Harbor folks continue with ‘Movies On The Potomac’ in 2013. Sunday nights at sunset are ‘Family Movies’ this year.

Lawn chairs or blankets are recommended. No coolers with food or alcoholic beverages will be permitted. Beverages and Kettle Korn will be for sale.

Reminder, if you don’t feel like driving over to National Harbor, you can take a water taxi from the Alexandria waterfront (takes about 20 minutes) or van service from King Street Metro.

Tonight’s ‘Family Movie’ is The Mighty Ducks starring Emilio Estevez and Lane Smith. The movie has one of my favorite movie characters ever – Goldberg. Remember this scene parents when Goldberg became a ‘man’? The movie is about a self-centered lawyer who is sentenced to community service coaching a rag tag youth hockey team.

Tough trial lawyer Gordon Bombay (Emilio Estevez) never loses. But when he’s slapped with a community service assignment, he must coach a ragtag team of pee wee hockey players who can’t skate, can’t score, and can’t win! Reluctantly, Bombay takes on the assignment and soon realizes there are more important things than winning. Armed with this new attitude, feathers fly as Bombay and the Ducks battle along to the toughest game of their lives!

The movie begins approximately 20 minutes after sunset at 8:16 pm. See the movie review above from Jonathan Paula.
