When we launched eight (8) something years ago @ http://carlylecommunity.us, we had one (1) reader, we focused on the Carlyle/Eisenhower East neighborhood, and over time built up the site to an average of roughly 50,000 readers a month. This site is nothing without you guys!

When we launched 8 years ago at the old site, the Westin Alexandria hotel had yet to be built, the Carlyle Square Condominiums was in the process of being developed, and the U.S. Patent and Trademark campus was in the final stages of being built as was the Whole Foods Market in our Carlyle/Eisenhower East area.  The Hoffman Town Center plan had been released, and the Eisenhower East Small Area Plan was still being amended. Now, we have the National Science Foundation moving into the area in a few years and Carlyle South community coming online.

But, there’s A LOT going on around Alexandria as the City of Alexandria is growing too. I was getting asked all the time about posting items outside of the Carlyle/Eisenhower East neighborhood and after giving it much thought and after consulting a great many people on this, we’ve decided to expand the neighborhood blog to all of Alexandria. Out of this decision was born http://redbricktown.com. We’ll still keep tabs on the Carlyle/Eisenhower East area though given that I live in the neighborhood.

We’re going to have a launch party as t-shirts, logos, etc are being developed so stay tuned for that.

If you subscribe via email or RSS, nothing will change right now. The current domain at  http://www.carlylecommunity.us will still be up for the time being. After a time to be determined, we’ll have it redirect to the new site.
