Bottom Dollar Dog to Become Townhomes – Updated (Video)

Bottom Dollar Dog building at corner of Wilkes Street and Columbus Street in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia

Updated 10:21 a.m. – Found statement from Bottom Dollar Dog owners and posted it below.

The Bottom Dollar Dog (BDD), a place with great half smokes and one of the few places in Alexandria that served turkey bacon, closed down. It received a terrific profile piece here in the Alexandria Gazette after Walter Williams grandson took over the joint and reopened it as the BDD.

The sign you can see in the photo above says the site will become townhomes. The DSUP number on the sign looks to be incorrect. I have a couple of calls into City staff to see if I can get the correct info on what is to come in place of this building and will post as soon as I get it.

UPDATE: The BDD owners posted this statement on Facebook back in November:

It’s been almost two years since we got the keys to the building that would become The Bottom Dollar Dog. With heavy hearts we are closing our doors for good Saturday Nov 9th. Our building is being sold and destroyed to make room for townhouses. We are looking for a new location and will keep you up to date. Thank you to all the amazing people that have allowed us to thrive here. Your support has been incredible. Thank you.
