An update to this post.
The Yates empire, which includes a car wash, gas station/service center, and the new Yates Corner, will now include a Pizza Palace as they are taking over the old Generous George’s space on Duke Street in Alexandria, Virginia.
In 2011, the location was supposed to become Ginny’s Restaurant in the part of the building that faces Duke Street and a takeout joint in the lower half of the restaurant called The Esquire Dog.
Both restaurants were a subsidiary of My Husband Cooks Hospitality Group of King Street in Old Town Alexandria. Sources tell me the group was either not aware of just how much it costs getting a restaurant up and running or couldn’t raise enough cash to do so. This would explain why nothing has been done with the building since the restaurant concepts were approved in 2011.
I’m trying to find out if the new pizza joint is working off the existing approved plans or if new ones are being submitted. As soon as I find out, I’ll let you know.
