The U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) telecommunications/proposed fiber optic lateral construction is taking place on the sidewalk area along Jamieson Avenue and Eisenhower Avenue in the Carlyle/Eisenhower East neighborhood of Alexandria. The work began on Monday, June 23rd and is expected to last until Thursday, July 31st. The work will be performed between the hours of 8:00 am and 3:30 pm.
The construction for Eisenhower Avenue lateral will occur on the north-side of Eisenhower between Holland Lane and Elizabeth Lane. The construction for the Jamieson Avenue lateral will occur on the north-side of Jamieson Avenue between Mill Road and Englehardt Lane and on to John Carlyle Street.
Vehicular traffic is expected to be minimally impacted as 95% of the proposed work will occur in the sidewalk area as recommended by the City of Alexandria’s Department of Transportation and Environmental Services.
As with all underground excavation, there will be some noise associated with the proposed construction activities; however, this noise is expected to be minimal.
