Invasive Species Control Project This Week at Potomac Greens Park

Potomac Greens in Alexandria, Virginia

The National Park Service and City of Alexandria are completing an invasive species control project in Potomac Greens Park, 700 Carpenter Road in Alexandria, Virginia. Foliar herbicide will be applied to the natural areas along park trails to eliminate invasive species and allow native vegetation to grow. The herbicide is a surfactant-free glyphosate product appropriate for use in wetlands and includes a non-toxic tracer dye to assist the certified applicators as they work.

The applications will occur during the week of September 22. Residents will see crews at work during the daytime.

For your safety, please use extra caution when moving around the park. The herbicide dries in 4 hours and is safe 24 hours after application.

For additional information or questions about the project, contact Robert Taylor, Division Chief, with the Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities at 703.746.4641.
