Lecture: Hurricanes and Alexandria – A Surprising History

Richard Schwartz, author of Hurricanes and the Middle Atlantic States, the first book of an upcoming four volume set covering the hurricane history of the United States, will speak about the history of hurricanes in Alexandria and their characteristics, patterns, and effects. His extensive research will be presented in a Power-point format including seventy-five slides with information, maps, and extensive photographs of the damage in our area from hurricanes.

The lecture is FREE and will be held on Wednesday, September 24 at 7:30 PM at The Lyceum, Alexandria’s History Museum, 201 South Washington Street. The lecture is a presentation of the Alexandria Historical Society. For more information, call 703.746.4994.
