Your Extraordinary House of the Day in Parker Gray

by Lee Hernly, Editor

Love the colors here on this house in Parker Gray which to me, is an older version of the newer homes in Old Town Commons. You can see other Parker Gray homes we have featured at this link.

In this case and in Old Town Commons, IMHO, the architecture pays homage to Parker Gray with details such as colorful paint schemes, pent roofs, trim details, etc. On this house, I especially like the curved front.

What do you think?

This was the People’s Flower Shop. According to the Alexandria Black History Museum, the flower shop was “the first African American florist in Alexandria.” The house was extensively renovated last year. The renovations were much needed due to the poor condition of the building prior to the work.
