First Night Alexandria – Ditch the Car, Take the FREE Shuttles

2014 marks the 20th anniversary of First Night Alexandria. This year, giving that parking is such a nightmare in Alexandria, Virginia, why not leave the car and take the FREE shuttles from DASH Bus. That’s how I am getting around on New Year’s Eve. What about you?

I am glad they offering a shuttle for the events but it doesn’t eliminate problem of where one can park to actually make use of the shuttle. Any ideas for parking near the King St. Metro? Can one park in the Masonic Temple parking lot?

Not sure about the Temple lot. You can use this link here ( to find the parking map for Alexandria as well as real-time parking in Alexandria. There is parking open late under the Embassy Suites on Diagonal Road across from the King Street Metro. That would be your closest parking to the shuttle.

If people chose to attend this event and want to park in the Caryle area to take advantage of the free shuttle how can they participate when there is a 2 hour limit on the meters until 9 pm. What happens if you want to get there at 4:30 PM for a nice dinner/drink and then want to participate in the events? simple answer is that one cannot do this thanks to the city of alexandria’s ludicrous parking restrictions. Thanks a lot City Council!

Hi Samir – Trying to find out if parking restrictions will be waived like they were Dec 24-26. Will let you know as soon as I do.
