Hillary Rodham Clinton, should she decide to run for president in 2016, is the clear front-runner among Virginia voters, a new poll finds.
The former secretary of state beats all potential Republican candidates with a favorability rating of 46 percent, according to a poll released Thursday by the Wason Center for Public Policy at Christopher Newport University.
However, with 49 percent, slightly more view Clinton unfavorably than favorably.
Former Sen. Jim Webb, D-Va., who announced last year that he is pondering a presidential bid, comes in second with a 35 percent favorability rating.
In head-to-head matchups between Clinton and Republicans, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush would lose by the closest margin, 48 percent to 43 percent, the poll finds. His 32 percent approval rating is the highest among potential Republican contenders.The poll holds mixed results for New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. He was the only other Republican to hold Clinton below 50 percent. She leads Christie with 49 to 42 percent. However, his favorability rating fell from 46 percent in 2014 to 30 percent.[..]
