The City of Alexandria, Virginia will conduct a public safety training exercise TOMORROW (Wednesday, April 22), from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., at the George Washington Masonic National Memorial, located at 101 Callahan Drive in Alexandria. The exercise will simulate a multi-agency response to an active incident, and is one of many training activities undertaken by area agencies to practice emergency response and coordination.
The exercise will be led by the City’s Office of Emergency Management, with the generous support of Memorial leadership and staff. The following agencies will participate: Alexandria Department of Emergency Communications, Alexandria Fire Department, Alexandria Police Department, Alexandria Sheriff’s Office, and Alexandria Volunteer Fire Department.
The public may notice increased emergency personnel and vehicles around the Memorial. Blank rounds may be heard during the exercise, but no live ammunition will be used. Neighboring homes have been individually notified of the exercise.
The event is not open to the public or news media, but members of the news media may park on the driveway between King Street and Callahan Drive.
