FREE Screening of “Coming Back to the Hoop” in Alexandria

FREE Screening Thursday, April 23, 2015

There’s a FREE screening of the 2014 Alexandria Film Festival Audience Award winning film, “Coming Back to the Hoop,” on Thursday, April 23.

The event will begin at 6:00 PM at the Beatley Central Library, located at 5005 Duke Street in Alexandria, with a reception honoring director, Jane Pittman. Light refreshments will be served. The screening will follow the reception at approximately 6:45 PM, with Q&A to follow.  Jane Pittman is a director, cinematographer and editor based in Washington DC.

She was a rising basketball star in her small town high school. “Good enough,” as the local paper suggested,” to play on the boys team.” But there were pressures no one knew about and when it all got to be too much, Jane Pittman ran off the court and never played basketball again … until now At 57, Jane stumbles across the NOVA United Senior Women’s Basketball Association and rediscovers the old passion. “Coming Back To The Hoop” is a film about the transformative power of basketball in the lives of senior women who have decided they’d rather wear out than rust out.
