If You Can Read This, Thank a Teacher: It’s Teacher Appreciation Week! #ThankaTeacher

In addition to National Small Business Week, Teacher Appreciation Week is celebrated in schools nationwide this week. Many PTAs in Alexandria, Virginia are busy making sure school staff gets recognized – with a special breakfast or lunch, gift cards, or other tokens of appreciation.

I recall many of my teachers who made a lasting impression on me. For example, there was Mrs. Schwartz at Douglas MacArthur, Mr. Gravette at T.C. Williams and so many more. My son Sam has had really great teachers as well in Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) like Ms. Hribar and Ms. Denkler.

The National Education Association has many ideas for thanking a teacher this week. It doesn’t take much to show appreciation for our teachers- a book, a gift card, a plate of cookies, or the most treasured, a handwritten note.

Who were/are some of your favorite teachers in Alexandria? Thank you to all the teachers in Alexandria, Virginia!
