The Fund for Alexandria’s Child in Alexandria, Virginia works to enhance the quality of life of foster children and children at risk of abuse and neglect by promoting community awareness, involvement and resource development. In Alexandria, usually about 100 children, from infancy to age 21, are in foster care. Another large group, identified to be at great risk for abuse and neglect, receives help to keep them safe. The Alexandria Department of Community and Human Services is responsible for these children.
They achieve their mission through providing to the children such activities as dance, art or karate lessons, summer camping, school field trips, scouting and team sports. Because of the generosity of our Alexandria neighbors, they can proudly say that Alexandria, Virginia is a community “taking care of our own.”
This Friday, June 5 @ 7:00 PM, palm trees and an early summer night’s breeze await you for the Fund’s annual gala. This year’s theme is “An Island Affair” and will be held at the Hotel Monaco, located at 480 King Street in Alexandria. You will enjoy an evening of mingling, dancing, hors d’oeuvres, drinks, silent auction, raffle for a St. Croix Island vacation and more.
