Happy Flag Day!

Today, June 14, 2015 is Flag Day. In the video above, takes a look at the history and meaning behind Flag Day.

One thing though the video doesn’t explore is the true origin of the flag. The film says that the origin of the US flag is not known; this is incorrect. It comes from the Revolutionary flag, the Grand Union Flag has historically been referred to as the “First National Flag”; although it has never had any official status. The ‘Grand Union Flag’ is a combination of the United Colonies Flag (13 stripes) and the Union Jack. During the war of independence, the Union Jack was replaced with 13 stars, and more stars added later.
