Jeffrey Yates Has Bought the Table Talk Restaurant on Duke Street

Table Talk Restaurant in Alexandria, Virginia at 1623 Duke Street
UPDATED (11:20 AM – June 15):: I have found out more information about the sale. See updated portion below.

Thanks to a reader tip, we can confirm that Jeffrey Yates has bought the Table Talk Restaurant, located at 1623 Duke Street in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, from owner Moe Movahed and family. The deal was completed this past week.

Terms are undisclosed for the restaurant, which opened in 1976, and I am trying to find out if the deal includes property that Moe owns around the City of Alexandria. It is also unclear at this time what if anything will change regarding the operation of the restaurant.

UPDATED:: I am told from sources that popular employee Nick Kapetanakis will stay on and the deal was for the restaurant only and, according to sources, the deal does not include other property that Moe owns around the City. Also, I hear while no change in operation will happen suddenly, there is speculation that Table Talk will add dinner in the near future. I am also told a professional manager is to be hired for the location.

My family and I have been enjoying Table Talk breakfasts for years. Weekends, the place can be packed, but is always friendly and the breakfasts are excellent. Table Talk is an affordable joint in the heart of Old Town Alexandria, Virginia.

What are your thoughts on this news?

I’ve been going to Table Talk for 26 years and now I wonder if the quality of the food will decrease. They are on probation for me now.

Fond memories of TT for over 20 years, though we haven’t gone much lately , as our family and diets evolve.

my guess is that it will be slated for redevelopment in the next couple years. Can’t see operating a diner on a $6 million piece of land. Been enjoying the little place for 25 years
