Taylor Run Citizens Association Invites Neighbors to National Night Out in Angel Park

by Lee Hernly, Editor

Neighbors in the Taylor Run area are invited to participate with many other neighborhoods across the country in celebration of National Night Out on Tuesday evening, August 4, 2015.

National Night Out is a crime and drug prevention event that is sponsored nationally by the National Association of Town Watch and co-sponsored locally by the Alexandria Police Department. This year is the 32nd anniversary of National Night Out with over 38 million people across the country expected to participate.

National Night Out is designed to: (1) Heighten crime and drug awareness; (2) Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime efforts; and, (3) Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police/community partnerships.

On August 4, 2015, residents in neighborhoods throughout Alexandria and across the nation are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend an evening outside with neighbors and police. Neighbors in and around the Taylor Run area are invited to come down to Angel Park, located  at 201 West Taylor Run Parkway from 5:00 to 8:00 PM for a fun potluck dinner and to meet with local police and fire personnel. There will be food (Chick-fil-A, Rocklands BBQ, and Zpizza to name a few) donated by TRCA and local businesses, but we ask everyone to bring a side dish or a dessert. There will be face painting, demonstrations, and giveaways.

This event is FREE and open to the public.
