Metrorail Track Work – July 31- August 2

Via WMATA, reconstruction of the Metrorail system will continue over the weekend of July 31 – August 2 with track work and service adjustments on five rail lines beginning at 10:00 PM TONIGHT (Friday) and continuing through system closing on Sunday.

This weekend, Green Line trains will operate at regular weekend intervals. Orange, Silver, Blue and Yellow line trains will operate every 24 minutes.

Red Line trains will operate every 8-16 minutes with additional trains between Dupont Circle and Rhode Island Ave between 9:00 AM and 9:00 PM.

Red Line

Trains every 8-16 minutes

Red Line trains will operate as follows throughout the weekend:

  • Between Shady Grove & Glenmont: trains every 16 minutes
  • Between Dupont Circle & Rhode Island Ave: every 8-10 minutes from 9AM-9PM only

Rail, tie and insulator renewal for a safer ride will cause Red Line trains to share one track between Dupont Circle & Van Ness and between Fort Totten & Silver Spring.

Orange Line

Trains every 24 minutes

Orange Line trains will operate every 24 minutes throughout the weekend.

Orange Line trains will share one track between West Falls Church & Ballston and Stadium-Armory & Cheverly to allow for joint elimination, grout pad rehabilitation, and rail, fastener & stud renewal for a safer ride.

Silver Line

Trains every 24 minutes

Silver Line trains will operate every 24 minutes throughout the weekend.

Silver Line trains will share one track between Ballston and McLean to allow for joint elimination, rail, fastener and stud renewal for a safer ride.

Blue Line

Trains every 24 minutes

Blue Line trains will operate every 24 minutes throughout the weekend.

Blue Line trains will share one track between Pentagon City and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport to allow for emergency call box and lighting replacement.

Yellow Line

Trains every 24 minutes

Yellow Line trains will operate every 24 minutes between Huntington and Fort Totten

Yellow Line trains will share one track between Pentagon City and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport to allow for emergency call box and lighting replacement.

Green Line

Regular weekend service
