Metrorail Track Work Schedule: August 14- 16

Via WMATA, reconstruction of the Metrorail system will continue over the weekend of August 14-16 with track work and service adjustments on four rail lines beginning at 10:00 PM Friday and continuing through system closing on Sunday.

This weekend, Yellow and Green line trains will operate at regular weekend intervals. Orange, Silver and Blue line trains will operate every 20 minutes and Red Line trains will operate every 12-24 minutes with additional trains between Farragut North and Rhode Island Ave between 9:00 AM and 9:00 PM.

Red Line

Trains every 12-24 minutes

Red Line trains will operate as follows throughout the weekend:

  • Between Shady Grove & Glenmont: trains every 24 minutes
  • Between Farragut North & Rhode Island Ave: every 12-14 minutes from 9AM-9PM only

Work Performed: Rail, tie and insulator renewal for a safer ride will cause Red Line trains to share one track between Dupont Circle & Van Ness and between Fort Totten & Silver Spring.

Orange Line

Trains every 20 minutes

Orange Line trains will operate every 20 minutes throughout the weekend.

Work Performed: Trains will share one track between Federal Center SW and Eastern market for emergency call box installation and testing for a safer ride.

Silver Line

Trains every 20 minutes

Silver Line trains will operate every 20 minutes throughout the weekend.

Work Performed: Trains will share one track between Federal Center SW and Eastern market for emergency call box installation and testing for a safer ride.

Blue Line

Trains every 20 minutes

Blue Line trains will operate every 20 minutes throughout the weekend.

Work Performed: Trains will share one track between Federal Center SW and Eastern market for emergency call box installation and testing for a safer ride.

Yellow Line

Regular weekend service

Green Line

Regular regular weekend service
