Metrorail Track Work Schedule September 11-13

Via WMATA, reconstruction of the Metrorail system will continue over the weekend of September 11-13 with track work and service adjustments on ALL SIX rail lines beginning at 10:00 PM Friday (TONIGHT) and continuing through system closing on Sunday.

This weekend, Red, Orange, Silver, Blue and Yellow line trains will operate every 24 minutes. Green Line trains will run on a regular weekend schedule between College Park and Branch Ave stations. At Greenbelt Station only, buses will replace trains on Saturday and Sunday.

Red Line

Trains every 24 minutes

Red Line trains will operate every 24 minutes throughout the weekend.

Rail tie, fastener and insulator renewal for a safer ride will cause Red Line trains to share one track between Shady Grove & Twinbrook and Judiciary Square & Rhode Island Avenue stations.

Orange Line

Trains every 24 minutes

Orange Line trains will operate every 24 minutes throughout the weekend.

Rail tie and fastener renewal will cause Orange Line trains to share one track between Vienna & West Falls Church and Eastern Market & Stadium-Armory.

Silver Line

Trains every 24 minutes

Silver Line trains will operate every 24 minutes throughout the weekend.

Rail fastener renewal will cause Silver Line trains to share one track between Eastern Market and Stadium-Armory.

Blue Line

Trains every 24 minutes

Blue Line trains will operate every 24 minutes throughout the weekend.

Rail fastener renewal will cause Blue Line trains to share one track between Pentagon City & Arlington Cemetery and Eastern Market & Stadium-Armory.

Yellow Line

Trains every 24 minutes

Yellow Line trains will operate every 24 minutes between Huntington and Mt. Vernon Sq only. Customers traveling to/from stations north of Mt. Vernon Sq should use a Green Line train to complete their trip.

Yellow Line trains will share one track between Pentagon City and L’Enfant Plaza to allow for rail fastener renewal and bridge inspection.

Green Line

Buses replace trains between College Park and Greenbelt on Saturday and Sunday

Green Line trains will operate at regular weekend intervals between Branch Avenue and College Park.

Station Closed: Greenbelt

Free shuttle buses will replace Green Line trains between College Park and Greenbelt.

Work Performed: Continued construction of a new test track located between College Park and Greenbelt to accept Metro’s new fleet of 7000-series railcars.
