Metrorail Track Work Schedule September 25-27

Via WMATA, reconstruction of the Metrorail system will continue over the weekend of September 25-27 with track work and service adjustments on five of six lines beginning at 10:00 PM Friday and continuing through system closing on Sunday.

This weekend, Green line trains will operate at regular weekend intervals. Orange, Silver, Blue and Yellow line trains will operate every 24 minutes. Red Line trains will operate every 10-20 minutes with additional trains between Farragut North and Rhode Island Avenue between 9:00 AM and 9:00 PM.

Red Line

Trains every 10-20 minutes

Red Line trains will operate as follows throughout the weekend:

  • Between Shady Grove & Glenmont: trains every 20 minutes
  • Between Farragut North & Rhode Island Ave: every 10-12 minutes from 9AM-9PM only

Rail fastener renewal and switch replacement for a safer ride will cause Red Line trains to share one track between Friendship Heights & Van Ness and between Takoma & Silver Spring stations.

Orange Line

Trains every 24 minutes

Orange Line trains will operate every 24 minutes throughout the weekend.

Joint elimination, rail tie and fastener renewal will cause Orange Line trains to share one track between Vienna & West Falls Church and between Foggy Bottom & McPherson Square.

Silver Line

Trains every 24 minutes

Silver Line trains will operate every 24 minutes throughout the weekend.

Rail fastener renewal will cause Silver Line trains to share one track between Foggy Bottom & McPherson Square.

Blue Line

Trains every 24 minutes

Blue Line trains will operate every 24 minutes throughout the weekend.

Rail tie and fastener renewal will cause Blue Line trains to share one track between Foggy Bottom & McPherson Square and between Braddock Road and Van Dorn Street.

Yellow Line

Trains every 24 minutes

Yellow Line trains will operate every 24 minutes between Huntington and Mt. Vernon Sq only. Customers traveling to/from stations north of Mt. Vernon Sq should use a Green Line train to complete their trip.

Rail tie and fastener renewal will cause Yellow Line trains to share one track between Braddock Road & Huntington.

Green Line
