1340132607_8890_roflbotA Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect from the National Weather Service for the metropolitan Washington area, including the City of Alexandria, Virginia from NOW until 6:00 AM Monday, September 28.

A Coastal Flood Advisory is issued when minor or nuisance coastal flooding is occurring or imminent. Coastal Flood Advisories are issued for coastal areas along the Tidal Potomac River and areas along the Chesapeake Bay.

…COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM EDT MONDAY…

* TIDAL ANOMALY…1 TO 2 FEET ABOVE NORMAL.

* TIMING…NEAR HIGH TIDE THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT.

* EXPECTED IMPACTS…MINOR SHORELINE INUNDATION.

A COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY INDICATES THAT ONSHORE WINDS AND TIDES
WILL COMBINE TO GENERATE FLOODING OF LOW AREAS ALONG THE SHORE.

ALL TIDE HEIGHTS ARE RELATIVE TO MEAN LOWER LOW WATER.
TIME OF HIGH TOTAL TIDES ARE APPROXIMATE TO THE NEAREST HOUR.
