As we told you first some time ago, the first ALDI Market in Alexandria, Virginia is coming soon to the long vacant Magruder’s space in the Seminary Plaza Shopping Center on Kenmore Avenue in Alexandria. ALDI is a low price grocery chain.
As we also told you first, building permits were issued recently and construction has begun on the space according to sources.
I was out recently taking a look at the progress of the store and not much looks different from my last visit. Sources had told me that construction on the space should be done by the end of September. As promised, we asked for an update and are now hearing the store will open sometime in December 2015.
ALDI Frederick Division VP Jeff Baehr updated me on the store opening date and tells me the new store will feature high ceilings, natural lighting and environmentally-friendly building materials – such as recycled materials and energy-saving refrigeration and light bulbs – to ensure that customers enjoy a shopping experience that is simple and easy to navigate.
REMINDER:: There are two more ALDI Food Markets in development in Alexandria, Virginia as well, one in the West End in 2015 and one in Del Ray in 2016. ALDI is hosting TWO (2) hiring events in Alexandria, Virginia in November 2015. Click this link for more information on that event.
