When the Alexandria City Council took up a massive new development proposal on the waterfront earlier this month, Alexandria Mayor Bill Euille took a timeout before the public hearing started. He paused to declare he had taken money from the developer. “But I do not find myself to be in a conflict of interest situation,” explained Euille, who was first elected in 2003. “I will be participating in the discussion and voting accordingly.”
