Alexandria, Virginia Elects a New Mayor

Allison Silberberg

In June, Allison Silberg won the Democratic primary for Mayor by the slimmest of margins. On Tuesday night, Ms. Silberberg won the job handily.

We were the FIRST to call the race on tonight’s LIVE blog (after 24 precincts reported). Write in votes won two (2) precincts – Ms. Silberberg won the other 26.

With 28 of 28 precincts reporting, the unofficial results are as follows:

  • Allison Silberberg: 16,554 (63.05 %)
  • Write-in votes (Euille?): 9,702 (36.95 %)

As Michael Lee Pope wrote at this link, the write in votes will be counted post-election so it is still unclear exactly how many votes Mr. Euille received.
