Wednesday Open Thread – So There’s a New Mayor in Alexandria Edition

by Lee Hernly, Editor

We’re glad to have you stop by Red Brick Town! Have a great day, and feel free to discuss any topic you choose in this open thread.

Topics can include what is going on Alexandria, Virginia, Northern Virginia, local politics, or any other local topic of interest, in the comments. Vice Mayor Silberberg won the race for Mayor last night handily over her write in opponent Mayor Euille. What are your thoughts on that? We’re compiling data on the City Council and School Board races and will have posts on that up shortly.

You can submit items about whatever you want to talk about – just please keep it clean beloved readers.

Clean sweep by the Dems. Euille got 37% of the vote as a write in.

I doubt anyone on the Council will be scared of Ms Silberberg or of the OTCA.

Ms Silberberg will either cooperate with the rest of the Council as she did when she voted for the revised Robinson Terminal North plan, or she will be isolated and powerless.

Meanwhile change in the electorate, as we have both generational change in existing neighborhoods, and as the new developments draw people moving to Alexandria for a vibrant, multimodal lifestyle, will reinforce the embrace of urbanism. Which, BTW, will still keep much of old Alexandria, from the actual colonial THs, to the quiet SFH areas away from the transit corridors.
