Christmas tree Duke Street
(UPDATE 12.09.2015 10:58 PM): The anonymous decorator of the tree has come forward

(UPDATE (4:55 PM): Added more photos & tweets from followers on the missing tree.

The small tree growing alongside the ramp to Landmark Mall on Duke Street on the West-bound side (see above) has been annually decorated by someone in the area for Christmas with flashing lights, garland, etc. It has been also annually been decorated as well on New Year’s Eve, Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, and more. I had heard from several people what joy it brought them to see it in the median.

After getting so many requests to do a story on her, I had planned to get out and snap a photo of the tree yesterday (Sunday, December 6) when I got this news.

I still went out there last night and can confirm to you the tree is gone. Whoever cut her down, as Alexis notes above, bah humbag to you. A reader sent the above photo along for reference if you have never seen the tree in question.

A Facebook follower shared a photo of the tree at St. Patrick’s Day:
