Dunkin Donuts Coming to USPTO Campus in January

U.S. Patent and Trademark Office

Dunkin DonutsWe have CONFIRMED that a new location of Dunkin Donuts, the popular donut franchise is coming soon to the former home of the USPTO Coffeehouse, which quietly closed recently. The location is at 400 Dulany Street at the campus of the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office in Alexandria, Virginia.

I am told a January 2016 opening is planned however, the opening date has yet to be disclosed. The store will be operated by Business Opportunities for the Blind. This store will be the sixth (6) Dunkin Donuts store in Alexandria.

Dunkin Donuts, with corporate offices in Canton, Massachusetts, is one of the fastest growing franchise operations.

The donut chain started in 1948 in Quincy, Massachusetts, as the “Open Kettle.” It sold coffee for 10 cents a cup.

In 1950, owner Bill Rosenburg changed the name to Dunkin Donuts.

The company claims almost 11,000 stores in 33 countries serving more than 5 million customers per day. Dunkin Donuts sells an estimated 1.8 billion cups of coffee annually.

The famed donut shop features more than 70 varieties of donuts and also a number of signature sandwiches.
