Alexandria, Virginia Named a Top Ten Christmas Town

UPDATE (11:00 AM): After several readers sent along the HGTV link of top Christmas towns to us yesterday, it has been determined this list was first published a few years back (2009).

Maybe holiday lights do shine a little bit brighter here.

Alexandria, Virginia was named one of the top 10 Christmas towns in the United States on a list published on by HGTV.com.

The rundown – which also included Chicago, IL, Cleveland, OH, Gatlinburg, TN, San Francisco, CA, and Woodstock, VT – noted the cities celebrate the season with a unique style and showcased some of their favorite traditions. In Alexandria’s case, HGTV featured the annual Holiday Boat Parade of Lights.
