Glory Days Grill Opening in Alexandria in 2016 (Update)

Glory Days Grill coming to the Alexandria Common shopping center in 2016

Glory Days Grill opening 1st inside the beltway location in Alexandria, Virginia

We had heard this rumor about Glory Days Grill from several sources since spring 2015 when the rumors swirled about the Lone Star Steakhouse in the Alexandria Commons Shopping Center. There was even more talk about this in November when the Lone Star eventually shut it doors (see here too).

I spoke to Jeff Newman from Glory Days Grill today who confirms to me that the popular regional sports restaurant and bar is working out the final details on a lease to take over the Lone Star Steakhouse location. Glory Days Grill, which is celebrating its 20th year in business in 2016, is looking at a 4th quarter 2016 opening for the Alexandria Commons location and this will be the first foray inside the beltway for the company. The opening will bring approx. 120 jobs to Alexandria, Virginia.

Glory Days has 23 other locations from Virginia to Florida. Glory Days is family oriented, features a full menu, and each location has more than 25 TVs for maximum sports viewing. We hear from Jeff that the Alexandria Commons location will be designed after the Glory Days location in Reston located in the North Point Village Center.

Maybe this will help jump start the dead center of that shopping center. The parking situation on the west end doesn’t do those businesses any favors and the Giant is the grocery store that people will only visit as a last resort now that Harris Teeter exists in Old Town and further west. Combine undesirable shopping, empty anchors and the almost always horrible traffic in that area of Duke Street and you’ll be hard pressed to find anyone that enjoys having to go there. It’s a shame that whole segment couldn’t be redeveloped properly, the entire corridor is an eyesore… Read more »
