Alexandria City Manager Update on Snow Removal

Commonweath and Windsor Alexandria VA
Alexandria City Manager Mark Jinks sent out this email this morning with the latest update on snow removal in Alexandria, Virginia.

TES achieved the stated goal of 100% residential streets passable to emergency vehicles last night. Also last night RPCA shifted to ACPS parking lots and made substantial progress with snow hauling the major task today. City refuse crews have been shifted to working on sidewalks near schools and ACPS bus stops. Street improvement work will also occur around ACPS facilities today.

The 72 hour post storm sidewalk clearance time was 9pm last night. Inspectors will focus on areas near schools, Metro access sidewalks, CBDs, and locations where we get complaints, and issue warnings to property owners. Snow removal crews will focus on intersections where sight lines from snow banks, or blocked turn lanes have caused problems. City government opens at 10 today.
