Track work affecting ALL SIX lines this weekend

Via WMATA, track work on the Metrorail system will continue over the weekend of May 13-15 with service adjustments on all six lines.

Trains will operate as follows:

  • Red Line trains will operate every 18 minutes.
  • Orange and Blue Line trains will operate every 20 minutes.
  • Silver Line trains will operate every 12 minutes between Wiehle-Reston East and Ballston only.
  • Yellow Line trains will operate every 24 minutes between Huntington and Mt. Vernon Sq only.
  • Green Line trains will operate every 24 minutes.

Red Line

Trains every 18 minutes | 12:01AM Saturday until closing Sunday

Single tracking between Dupont Circle & Van Ness to allow for rail, tie, fastener and insulator renewal.

Orange Line

Trains every 20 minutes | 10:00PM Friday until closing Sunday

Single tracking between McPherson Square & Smithsonian to allow for rail fastener and stud renewal and restraining rail maintenance.

Silver Line

Trains every 12 minutes between Wiehle-Reston East & Ballston only | 7:00AM Saturday until closing Sunday

Silver Line trains will operate between Wiehle-Reston East and Ballston only. Customers traveling to/from other stations should use Orange and/or Blue line trains to complete their trip. At Ballston, transfer between Silver and Orange line trains on the same platform.

Blue Line

Trains every 20 minutes | 10:00PM Friday until closing Sunday

Single tracking between McPherson Square & Smithsonian to allow for rail fastener and stud renewal and restraining rail maintenance.

Yellow Line

Trains every 24 minutes | 10:00PM Friday until closing Sunday

All trains will operate to/from Mt. Vernon Sq rather than Fort Totten. Customers traveling to/from stations north of Mt. Vernon Sq should use a Green Line train to complete their trip.

Yellow Line train frequencies are adjusted to coordinate with Green Line single tracking.

Green Line

Trains every 24 minutes | 10:00PM Friday until closing Sunday

Single tracking between Georgia Av-Petworth & Prince George’s Plaza to allow for switch replacement and communication cable installation.
