Sports Authority in Potomac Yard is CLOSING

Sports Authority

Sporting goods chain Sports Authority earlier this year filed for bankruptcy, and put out a list of stores that it said would be closing as a result.

Now, Sports Authority is shutting down all of its 463 locations nationwide, including its Alexandria, Virginia location at Potomac Yard Shopping Center, as part of a liquidation process expected to take several months.

The company’s initial plan was to restructure its debt and close 140 stores, which would have spared the Alexandria, Virginia location.

Attorneys for Sports Authority reported earlier this month the company was unable to bring its creditors and lenders on board with that reorganization plan.

We understand a HUGE store closing sale is planned. Stay tuned…
