Call for Nominations – “Volunteers are the Heart of Alexandria” awards

Volunteer Alexandria will host it’s annual “Volunteers are the Heart of Alexandria” awards ceremony to recognize the accomplishments of some of the community’s most dedicated volunteers on October 26, 2016. This year’s event will include one new award category – an Emergency Preparedness Award sponsored by the Alexandria Citizens Corps Council.  Standing awards include the Marian Van Landingham Lifetime Achievement Award, the Grassroots Volunteer Service Award, and the Youth Volunteer Service Award. Organizations are encouraged to submit a nomination by September 1, 2016.

More details and nomination forms can be downloaded online.

Volunteer Alexandria has been building a better community by inspiring and mobilizing people to volunteer since 1980. Every day, volunteers are helping families and individuals who need a little extra help and this event is a great venue to recognize some of them,” said Marion Brunken, Executive Director. “Recognizing volunteers is an important aspect of volunteer management and organizations are encouraged to nominate their stars.”
