Barricade on Lincolnia Road Ends Peacefully

Fairfax County Police officers were called to a home in the 6400 block of Lincolnia Road shortly after 1:40 p.m. on Friday, September 2 for the report of a 34-year-old man experiencing emotional distress, possibly armed with a firearm, and allegedly threatening to harm himself. A perimeter was quickly established around the home by responding officers. The Public Affairs Bureau kept the public and media informed throughout the event through the use of social media.

A barricade was officially declared at about 2:26 p.m. and a SWAT team was dispatched to the scene. Personnel from the Crisis Negotiations Team and Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department also responded to the incident.

Attempts to make contact with man continued until the man inside the home surrendered and was taken into custody around 5 p.m. There were no injuries. An emergency custody order was obtained for the man who will be evaluated and provided the services he may need.
