Donations Stopped for Deceased Old Town Restaurant Worker

The Warehouse Bar + Grill restaurant in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia

As readers know, in early August, an elderly driver struck and killed a pedestrian in Swift Alley in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia behind The Warehouse Bar + Grill.

Jeremais Herrera Rodriguez, who worked as a dishwasher at the restaurant in Old Town, was struck and killed that day while cleaning the alley behind the restaurant. This was one of two jobs he held so he could send money home to his family in Guatemala.

After that tragic day, the Warehouse Bar & Grill setup a GoFundMe page to raise $10,000 to help the family with the cost of sending his remains back to his family in Guatemala.

Now, after raising over $28,000 in this effort to help the family of the deceased, donations are being stopped.

I want to say thank you so much for the amazing support and generosity we have experienced with this campaign. The way people around Old Town have reached out and given to the fund is truly remarkable.

At this time, we will be pausing this website to all future donations. If you are still insistent on giving more, you can message us through the site and we can set up a way for you do to so.

Now is the time for us to pray for the family and wish them the best. We will always remember them and Jeremais in the best way.

Thank you all once again,
Meghan Schulze
