Construction Accident in Old Town North

The Alexandria Police Department is investigating an industrial accident that occurred during rush hour this morning in the 700 block of Wythe Street at Washington Street.

One person was burned by electricity and transported to an area hospital with serious injuries. Sources says construction crane accidentally hit power lines and construction worker was injured.

The 700 block of Wythe is closed to traffic. Many traffic lights in that area are out due to the power outage from the accident.

Treat all uncontrolled intersections as four-way stops. Please be patient and take turns.
