Adkins Convicted of Murder

Rashad Lonzell Adkins, 22, of Alexandria, VA, was convicted by a jury of two felonies related to a murder that occurred in the City on July 2, 2015.

On that date Adkins and the victim, Shakkan Elliott-Tibbs, engaged in a verbal argument in the 700 block of N. Fayette Street. The altercation turned physical, and Adkins produced a .40 handgun and shot Tibbs at least 4 times. Adkins then fled the area. Shortly thereafter, Tibbs succumbed to his injuries.

Adkins was convicted of murder in the second degree and use of a firearm in the commission of murder. The jury is currently deliberating what sentence to recommend to the Court.
