ACPS Back-to-School Drive Underway in Alexandria

Alexandria City Public Schools’ (ACPS) Family and Community Engagement (FACE) Center has kicked off the annual Back-to-School Drive for school supplies for students. Each fall, many Alexandria students of all ages face the prospect of starting school without adequate supplies. Last year, over 1,500 supply filled backpacks were delivered to needy students.

In partnership with local businesses, FACE will collect backpacks, spiral notebooks, wide-rule notebook paper, pens, pencils, crayons, erasers, two-pocket folders, pencil pouches, scissors, rulers, and school supplies for all age groups. These supplies will then be distributed to ACPS students through each school’s social workers.

FACE is asking the community to donate new backpacks and school supplies by dropping them off in collection bins placed in local area businesses.

The Back-to-School Drive runs until Tuesday, Aug. 15. Anyone wishing to contribute may help as follows:

  • Donate thru DASH Bus and ride FREE (Details)
  • Donate new backpacks and school supplies by dropping them off in one of the donation boxes at the locations (See map below).
