Transformer Fire Causes Power Outage to 600+ in Alexandria

UPDATE (4:44 PM): Dominion reports that power has been restored at the scene of the earlier transformer fire. Crews are still working to restore power to the 29 customers in Seminary Hill.

UPDATE (2:33 PM): Dominion says there’s a second outage – this time in the Seminary Hill neighborhood of Alexandria, Virginia. This outage is between Fort Williams Parkway & St. Stephens Road. 29 customers are affected. Dominion estimates time of restoration to be between 5:00 PM & 10:00 PM.

UPDATE (2:25 PM): Dominion says there are multiple outages at the site of the transformer fire and has revised the # of customers out to 57. Dominion says it will be between 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM for restoration.

A transformer fire this morning has knocked knocked out power to hundreds of customers in the Old Town and Upper King Street neighborhoods of Alexandria, Virginia.

The fire was reported this morning behind the Whole Foods Market and the Carlyle branch of Burke and Herbert Bank in Alexandria. Minor injuries were sustained in the incident.

As of 10:35 a.m., Dominion Energy currently lists 637 customers without power along Duke Street area in Alexandria, Virginia. No timetable has been given so far for restoration.
