No Rumored Rallies in Alexandria

Have had a LOT of texts from readers asking about scheduled/non-scheduled rallies and/or protests in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia in the last couple of days. I haven’t heard anything about any rallies and neither has the City. The Alexandria Police Department put out the following notice on Nextdoor about the rally rumors.

Multiple residents have inquired with the City of Alexandria and Alexandria Police Department about scheduled rallies or protests in Alexandria. At this time, the Alexandria Police Department is unaware of a scheduled public gathering of any group in Alexandria. There seems to be conflicting messaging on this issue, which is why we are contacting your neighborhood to clear up any inaccurate information. Officers talked to many homeowners and business owners along the King Street corridor recently about potential gatherings because of what is occurring across the region, but there is no specific gathering. The Alexandria Police Department regularly shares notifications about safety issues on our social media accounts on Facebook and Twitter: @AlexandriaVAPD. As always, if you see anything of concern, please call the non-emergency line at 703.746.4444.
